4. Obtain a Report on Valuation and Classification(RVC), for goods with an FOB value greater than or equal to 2,000,000 FCFA, from the SGS;
5. Obtain an insurance certificate;
6. Establish a Certificate of Circulation (case of possible benefit from a preferential tariff) or of the certificate of origin (case of non-preferential origin).

The importer or his/her representative submits a request for an Attestation of Verification to Import (AVI) to SGS, the Swiss company in charge of inspection at the ports. This request must be submitted no later than the time at which the manifest is validated.

The following documents must accompany the request: interpretative document; bill of lading or air waybill; a final invoice; a packing list; a local insurance certificate; a customs clearance; number of the cargo manifest; a voucher or evidence of an eventual exemption accompanied by a provisional customs certificate; and a phytosanitary certificate or other required technical service documents.

Customs duty rates are applicable according to the category of the imported product:

• Primary necessary goods: category I, 0 percent
• Raw materials and equipment goods: category II, 10 percent
• Intermediary and miscellaneous goods: category III, 20 percent
• Fast-moving consumer goods: category IV, 30 percent
